Art is about expression and creativity — and this space is meant to reflect those values.

Recently, a small number of hateful and inappropriate comments have been posted on Phoebe’s social media and sent via direct messages. These included cruel attacks on her identity, disabilities, and appearance. We want to address this directly and clearly.

Our Commitment to a Safe, Respectful Space

Harassment, discrimination, or targeted abuse — whether based on disability, nationality, identity, or appearance — will never be tolerated here.
Such comments and messages will be removed and the accounts engaging in this behavior may be blocked and reported to the appropriate platforms or authorities.

Phoebe is proud to share her work and her story, including the unique perspectives shaped by her life experiences. Differences are what make art powerful — and we will continue to ensure this space remains one where creativity and kindness are stronger than hate.

Thank you to everyone who supports respectful dialogue and helps keep this page a welcoming environment for all.

A Collaborative Effort

When we say “we,” please know that Phoebe’s online presence is a team effort. I (Jason, her business manager and father) help manage the website, social media, and technical operations so Phoebe can focus on creating art and pursuing her education. I host the website and professional social media not for profit, but to support her growth and future success. This also means I see every message and comment directed at her.

Addressing a Common Question

One comment we received recently asked if Phoebe is a child. While some reacted negatively to that question, we felt it was worth addressing openly — because it reflects a misunderstanding Phoebe has encountered throughout her life and will likely continue to face.

Phoebe is 17 years old and a high school graduate. A rare medical condition she was diagnosed with at birth has contributed to several lifelong challenges, including short stature, health concerns, and learning disabilities. You can read more about her story here:

Resilience Through Art

Phoebe’s journey has been shaped by perseverance. Like many young people during the COVID-19 pandemic, she was forced into virtual schooling. But unlike many of her peers, students with certain health needs in her former Florida district were not allowed to return to in-person classes — nor to participate in extracurricular activities.

Today, Phoebe volunteers at the NOTO Arts Center in Topeka, Kansas, and we work together to record her art creation process or even upcoming show announcements that help her engage with public speaking with her audiences. Selling her art through art shows and galleries helps her earn income, gain professional experience, and build confidence — opportunities that traditional teenage jobs might teach but are not currently available to her due to some of her health concerns.

She also works with vocational rehabilitation specialists and has applied to college to continue her art education.

A Final Word

My wife and I are deeply proud of our daughter. She is a fighter, a creator, and a storyteller with her own voice — and we know she will continue to thrive in whatever she pursues. Thank you to everyone who has shown kindness, encouragement, and respect along the way.

Sincerely,
